Elevating Your Professional Presence helps your high-potentials, independent contributors, consultants, and others demonstrate the confidence that matches their subject matter expertise and intellectual capacity. By mastering the subtleties of voice, body, and message alignment, participants emerge with a commanding presence that enables them to present themselves and their ideas more powerfully to clients and colleagues at all levels.

Elevating Your Professional Presence provides a highly experiential approach to development, combining pre-work, a two-day classroom workshop, and reinforcement to strengthen learning outcomes.

Who Is This Course For?

This program is suitable for a variety of levels, experience and organisational roles, from middle to senior managers. Also targeting at individual contributors who must influence without authority and consultants and services professionals who need to communicate effectively at all levels.

Participants will gain insights into their own ‘Professional Presence’ strengths and weaknesses and develop plans to address any gaps. These include; stronger self-belief, developing greater confidence when delivering feedback, saying no and pushing back.

It is also important for your professionals in technical or scientific roles who need the presence skills to match their subject matter or technical expertise or for anyone else in your organisation who could benefit from an understanding of the skills of presence.

Course Description

Day One

On day one supported by facilitator feedback and coaching, participants learn skills based on actor training to “own” how they show up in different situations.

  • Introduction to Personal Presence with the PRES Model: Present, Reaching Out, Expressive, Self-Knowing.
  • Developing Awareness: Participants explore the physical and vocal signals of personal presence as they relate to perceived status, credibility, and intent.
  • Voice and Body Language: Participants build a robust toolkit of skills and best practices around using body language and vocal variety for maximum impact.
  • Tying it all Together: Participants work in pairs to rehearse and perform a theatrical monologue that allows them to stretch their level of vocal and physical expressiveness and passionate purpose.

Day Two

Day two focuses on business scenarios with an emphasis on peer-to-peer coaching and feedback.

  • Warm-up to Reengage Body and Voice: Participants explore their “default” presence as it compares to high presence.
  • Personal Value Proposition: Participants create, practice, and present a 30- to 60-second sound bite describing the value they bring to their current role or project. After receiving presence coaching and feedback, participants identify appropriate contexts to deliver it (networking, introductions, etc.). Role-Playing Real Work Situations: Participants practice leveraging their presence in challenging real-life work situations, including in one-on-one conversations, meetings, and phone/virtual situations.
  • Application and Action Planning: Transitioning the concepts from the workshop to daily life and articulating action steps to sustain the learning.
